The City of Warren has installed four “Danger Dam” buoys on the Mahoning River to warn kayakers of dangerous water conditions ahead. The Friends of the Mahoning River helped this project become a reality by informing the city of Warren about the Navigation Aid Grants program issued by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Thanks to a request made by the Friends of the Mahoning River, six state-issued warning buoys are being installed to mark three industrial dams on the river. These buoys will help warn kayakers and canoeists of potential drowning hazards and will promote safer recreation.
