L. K. Williams and Sara Smith attended the 2019 Tree City USA Awards Ceremony at Mill Creek MetroParks-Fellows Riverside Gardens on April 23rd. This event was sponsored by the City of Youngstown Parks & Recreation Dept relative to Arbor Day in a ceremony to recognize the environmental value of trees and those who value them.
The City of Youngstown, Ohio, has received the national recognition of being designated a TREE CITY USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation for twelve consecutive years. Because of the support of the City of Youngstown to our annual RiverFest, we put a full-page ad for the event showing the The City of YOU as one of our sponsors along with The Neighborhood SUCCESS, a program of the Raymond John Wean Foundation.
Catherine Cala, Alumni engagement from YSU, was one of the featured speakers that morning at a Continental Breakfast for attendees and she spoke about YSU TreeCampus, an active student organization on campus.
Now Catherine is going to attend our RiverFest on June 2 as one of our exhibitors.
